SHILLONG, Oct 28: Not an entirely new phenomenon, but the capital city of Shillong continues to be dominated by killer potholes whilst the government and the concerned departments continue to remain in deep slumber.
Potholes on major roads continue to pose life threats to commuters.
Similarly, one such crater near Anjalee Cinema witnessed a two wheeler losing balance but nevertheless, the duo escaped with minor injuries.
Similarly, Lower Lachumiere and the bylane connecting Dhanketi has always been infamous for the deep cavities which see occasional repairing, but last a handful of days.
The road from Nonghtymmai to Mawblei lies in a similar condition making the road not conducive even for two wheelers wherein the road serves as a significant connection for transport vehicles to places like Jowai.
The PWD department has asserted time and again that the road repairing work will commence once the monsoon subsides. And since the rainy season is over, one can expect that the department will resume the repairment work at the earliest.
