Lamlynti secure semis berth

Shillong, Oct 28: In a thrilling encounter at the First Ground, Polo, Lamlynti FC of Madanlyngkhi secured the final spot in the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division semi-finals by narrowly defeating Madan SCC 1-0 in the fourth quarterfinal on Saturday.
The crucial goal of the match came in the 61st minute when a Madan SCC player inadvertently scored an own goal, making it the first and only own goal in this season’s competition.
With this victory, Lamlynti FC now joins the ranks of Mawkriah West, Iatyllilang SC, and Kharang SC in the semi-finals. Notably, three out of the four quarterfinal matches concluded with a 1-0 scoreline, and Mawkriah West advanced after a penalty shootout against Mawkasiang.As per the Shillong Sports Association’s previously announced schedule, the first semi-final is slated to take place on October 31st, pitting Lamlynti against Kharang. The second semi-final will follow on the next day, November 1st, featuring Iatyllilang and Mawkriah West. Both semi-final clashes are set to kick off at 1:45 PM at the First Ground.The Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division has witnessed intense competition and impressive displays of talent from young footballers throughout the season. With Lamlynti FC’s recent qualification for the semi-finals, anticipation is building for the remaining matches, which promise to be a showcase of skill and determination.
