J&K, Ladakh foundation day celebration at Raj Bhavan
SHILLONG, Oct 31: In line with the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme, which aims to enhance interaction, promote mutual understanding between people of different states/UTs, the Foundation Day of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh was celebrated at Raj Bhavan Shillong on Tuesday. To mark the occasion, a cultural evening was organised wherein the Governor, Phagu Chauhan, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The Foundation Day celebration also coincided with the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day which marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. On the occasion, the Governor administered the National Unity Day pledge to foster and fortify the unity, integrity, and security of our nation. The cultural evening witnessed a splendid array of performances showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of the two UTs. A special troupe of performers from Ladakh wowed the audience with their impeccable musical prowess. The Foundation Day message of Lt. Governor of Ladakh, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd.) was also screened on the day. The programme was organised by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Shillong in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture, Government of Meghalaya.

 

 

CRPF celebrates Natl Unity Day
SHILLONG, Oct 31: The 67th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) celebrated National Unity Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour here. The day, dedicated to the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, witnessed a series of events and activities aimed at promoting unity and the spirit of oneness among the personnel. The day commenced with a flag hoisting ceremony at the 67th Battalion CRPF headquarters, where Commandant Alok Bhattacharya led the proceedings. He highlighted the significance of National Unity Day and paid tribute to Sardar Patel’s tireless efforts in unifying the diverse princely states into one nation. In his address, Commandant Shri Alok Bhattacharya emphasized the pivotal role CRPF plays in upholding national integrity. He praised the relentless dedication of the personnel in safeguarding the nation’s borders and maintaining law and order. He also urged everyone to carry forward the spirit of unity, as envisioned by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The battalion organized various activities, including a Unity Run, where personnel and their families ran together to symbolize the unity and integrity of the nation. This event was marked by the participation of not only CRPF personnel but also local residents who joined in the spirit of togetherness.

 

 

NEHU VC attends North East India Festival in Vietnam
SHILLONG, Oct 31: Vice-chancellor, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Prof PS Shukla attended the 3rd Northeast India Festival, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on Thursday. The event focused on expanding educational exchange programs, tourism, trade, and investment ties between India and Vietnam and aimed to foster cultural diplomacy and cooperation between the two nations. A step has been taken towards implementing NEHU’s internationalisation in the bordering nations, informed the VC. The VC also gave a brief presentation highlighting research activities under Indian Knowledge System covering a wide range of subjects, including Science, Engineering, Technology, Health and Wellness through Ayurveda, Yoga, traditional medicinal practices, Drama arts & Aesthetics and Folk culture, Environment and ecology and their preservation, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in Indian traditions, and Indian Traditional Knowledge Base, that have led to the establishment of the IKS centres for research, education, and outreach activities. He also apprised the gathering that India will leverage its strengths in innovation and research to advance the social welfare and economic advancement of all parties involved, both domestically and internationally.
