Shillong, November 2: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has called off her planned visit to Mizoram for two election rallies due to unavoidable reasons, according to party leaders.
As per IANS, she was set to address the public near Raj Bhavan in Aizawl and hold a meeting in Kawrtethawveng, Mamit district. This comes after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Mizoram on October 16 and 17, delivering speeches at various election rallies.
Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, in a video message, encouraged Mizoram voters to support Congress candidates in the upcoming November 7 Assembly polls.
The Congress, with a history of governance in the state, has nominated candidates for all 40 seats and formed the ‘Mizoram Secular Alliance’ (MSA) in collaboration with local parties, the People’s Conference (PC), and Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP).
State Congress President Lalsawta highlighted that the MSA’s formation aims to collectively counter the BJP. Notably, the People’s Conference and the ZNP will not field candidates but extend their support to the Congress nominees.
