Youth leaders quit HSPDP en masse

SHILLONG, Nov 1: The president of the HSPDP Youth Wing, Sandondor Ryntathiang, along with 18 other members resigned from the party on Wednesday.
In a letter to the HSPDP president and general secretary, copies of which were marked to the two elected representatives of the party, Ryntathiang stated, “I Sandondor Ryntathiang would like to tender my resignation as the president of the HSPDP youth wing and also from the primary membership of the party. Along with me the following party cadres would follow the same…”
The HSPDP is an alliance partner of the UDP under the Regional Democratic Alliance and is expected to go for a joint candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Earlier, UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh had also acknowledged the fact that teaming up would only strengthen the parties reasoning that the HSPDP enjoys strong support at the grassroots, especially in the western side of the state.
However, the party is planning to go without any alliance with the UDP in the district council elections.
