SHILLONG, Nov 8: The Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) has sought a police report into the alleged stabbing of his wife, Poonam Singh, by well-known city businessman Suresh P Singh.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the MSCW stated that despite the victim not having submitted an official complaint in connection with the case, they have sought the police report from the concerned police station.
The panel declared, “We are waiting for the report before taking  other course of interventions.”
The commission declared that the rule of law must be upheld and that everyone is subject to the law, regardless of their socioeconomic standing.
The panel also disclosed that they had conducted meetings with the administrators of Shillong Civil Hospital, the victim and her daughter.
The accused surrendered at the Laban police station on November 3 and a court remanded him in seven-day police custody.
