Shillong, November 14: The air quality in the national capital showed no signs of improvement on Tuesday, maintaining its ‘very poor’ status according to the Air Quality Index (AQI) released by the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).
As per IANS, the overall AQI for the city was documented at 373, underscoring the severity of the pollution issue.
Specifically, the Anand Vihar station reported alarming levels, categorizing it as ‘severe’ with PM 10 at 464 and PM 2.5 at 438. Carbon monoxide (CO) was at 106, falling under the ‘moderate’ category at 9 a.m. Conversely, the Bawana station recorded PM 2.5 at 446 (severe) and PM 10 at 322 (very poor), with CO at 82, deemed satisfactory, and NO2 at 20, classified as ‘good.’
At Dwarka sector-8 station, PM 2.5 reached 474, marking it as ‘severe,’ while PM 10 stood at 410, also falling into the ‘severe’ category. The air quality at the Indira Gandhi International Airport T3 area was categorized as ‘severe,’ with PM 2.5 at 417 and PM 10 at 244, considered ‘poor,’ while CO was at 100, satisfying the criteria for the ‘satisfactory’ category.
The ITO station reported PM 2.5 at 436 (severe) and PM 10 at 316 (very poor), with NO2 reaching 143 (moderate) and CO at 90, classified as ‘satisfactory.’ Jahangirpuri documented PM 2.5 at 404 (severe), PM 10 at 378 (very poor), CO at 78 (satisfactory), and NO2 at 13 (good). The prevailing air quality concerns highlight the ongoing environmental challenges faced by Delhi, emphasizing the need for sustained efforts to address and mitigate air pollution.
