One held, heroin worth more than Rs 2 cr seized

SHILLONG, Nov 18: A drug peddler was arrested and heroin worth more than Rs two crores was seized by the ANTF of East Khasi Hills on Saturday.
The ANTF intercepted a bus from Silchar at Mawryngkneng and apprehended the drug trafficker.
The cops recovered one mobile phone, a black bag and 17 boxes of heroin weighing 235.77 grams from his possession.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma congratulated the police for the seizure from a notorious interstate drug trafficker at Mawryngkneng.
“Amid our efforts to showcase Meghalaya’s tourism-friendly image through events like #CherryBlossomFestival, these traffickers intend to sully our state’s reputation,’ Sangma said while reiterating that the government stands committed against drug trafficking and to fortify the resilience of state and this success exemplifies our unwavering resolve.
