Shillong, Nov 20: In a significant step towards the organization of the 5th Meghalaya Games 2024, the Games Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC) of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA) convened a meeting chaired by John F Kharshiing, Working President, MSOA, and Chairman of GTCC.
The session, held on Monday at the MSOA Conference Hall, saw the presence of Finely L Pariat, General Secretary & Secretary of GTCC, PB War Nongbri, Assistant Director of DSYA, and various MSOA officials, alongside the President and Secretary of the 22 State Sports Associations.
The primary agenda of the meeting, conducted on Monday, centered around the comprehensive review of preparations for the upcoming 5th Meghalaya Games scheduled to take place from January 15 to 20, 2024, in Tura, West Garo Hills District. This marks a notable departure as it will be the first time the state games are hosted in a district other than the customary location.
The participants engaged in discussions on several critical aspects, including venue arrangements, logistics for the arrival and departure of participants, accommodation arrangements, venue preparations, Internet accessibility, and transportation logistics for the required sports equipment from various districts.
In light of the complexity and scale of organizing such a sporting event, further meetings have been planned as an integral part of the ongoing preparations for the 5th Meghalaya Games 2024. The collaborative efforts of the MSOA GTCC and the State Sports Associations underscore the commitment to ensuring a seamless and successful hosting of the upcoming sports extravaganza.
