Banks’ refusal to accept docs
for PMFME irks group
TURA, Nov 23: AHAM, West Garo Hills unit has expressed concern over the refusal by banks, to accept documents from entrepreneurs under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprise Scheme (PMFME). “The PMFME, launched by the government, aims to promote the growth and development of micro food processing businesses, contributing to the rural economy and generating employment opportunities. Numerous individuals have reported being denied the acceptance of necessary bank documents, when attempting to submit their applications for the scheme. The non-acceptance of documents directly impact their ability to avail the benefits and support offered by the government under the scheme,” the movement said, in a statement here. Pointing out that all public servants including banks must be notified whenever government releases schemes and subsidies, the organisation urged the Head of Department of the Horticulture Department in each district to take strict action against such refusals.
Tura observes Intl Cashew Day
TURA, Nov 23: ‘International Day of Cashew’ was observed here by NEHU, Tura Campus along with the Department of Agribusiness Management and Food Technology celebrated in collaboration with the APEDA (Regional Office, Guwahati). Speaking on the occasion the chief guest, NEHU vice-chancellor Prof. P S Shukla assured that the regional food testing laboratory, NEHU Tura Campus will sign with APEDA to popularise organic cashew nut from Meghalaya origin into international market. Regarding quality assurance, he said the incubation centre, NEHU Tura Campus has already established a well equipped advance food testing laboratory, which will play a vital role to determine quality and standard certificate of organic cashew nut from Meghalaya.
