BSF thwarts bid to smuggle goods

SHILLONG, Nov 25: Troops of BSF Meghalaya on Friday, intercepted illicit smuggling activities in two separate operations and confiscated Indian sugar and other contraband items worth more than Rs 11 lakh while they were being smuggled to Bangladesh.
Acting on specific information, vigilant troops of 200 Bn BSF conducted an operation in the bordering area of Dambukaphal in West Garo Hills. The operation led to the confiscation of 5,000 kg of Indian sugar meant to be smuggled.
Simultaneously, in another operation, troops of the 110 Bn BSF Meghalaya intercepted a vehicle in the bordering area of Kasinda in East Khasi Hills carrying miscellaneous items.
All confiscated goods were promptly handed over to the respective Customs office for further action.
