MAWKYRWAT, Nov 27: As many as five villages in South West Khasi Hills — Manad, Mawbidong, Lummawbah, Pyndenlyngdoh and Pyndensohlang — will possibly get a special gift this Christmas in the form of a health sub-centre, if everything goes according to plan.
Mawkyrwat MLA Renikton L Tongkhar on Saturday inspected the Manad sub-centre located 20 kilometres from Mawkyrwat, which is the district headquarters, to assess the progress of the construction work. He was accompanied by the Myntris (headmen) and villagers from the five villages.
Speaking to media persons after the inspection, Tongkhar said he was happy with the progress of the construction of the sub-centre.
“I will soon discuss with the Health Minister and fix a date for the inauguration. We want it to happen before Christmas, as a Christmas gift to the people of these five villages in this area who have dreamed and waited for many years to get a sub-centre,” Tongkhar said.
