MPS officer secures silver in State Kettlebell C’ship

Shillong, Nov 28: The 3rd edition of the Girevoy Sports Indian Federation (GSIF) State Kettlebell Championship 2023 unfolded successfully at Pinewood Gym on November 27, with a total of 14 athletes vying for glory and amassing an impressive haul of 8 Gold and 7 Silver medals.
D.K Prasad, a dedicated fitness enthusiast and Assistant Commandant with the MPS, stationed in Training at SF10, emerged as a beacon of inspiration at the renowned Gold Gym.
At the age of 57, Prasad shattered age-related stereotypes by clinching a well-deserved Silver medal in the fiercely contested championship, illustrating that the pursuit of fitness transcends conventional boundaries.The event, meticulously organized by Parag Mhetre, GSIF Secretary, and Sandeep Sharma, a distinguished Bronze medalist in Kettlebell Sports on the international stage, served as a pivotal platform for athletes from diverse backgrounds. The competition, an integral part of GSIF’s nationwide initiative spanning states such as Meghalaya, Assam, and Maharashtra, showcased the growing prominence of Kettlebell Sports in the country.Sandeep Sharma, adding to his recent accolades as a bronze medalist in the international kettlebell competition held in Hungary, plays a pivotal role in championing the rapid expansion of the sport within the state.
As a seasoned trainer affiliated with both Gold’s Gym and Pinewood Gym, Sharma imparts his expertise in Kettlebell and Animal Flow, holding the distinction of being the sole certified trainer in Northeast India for the latter discipline. His dual roles in training and promoting the sport contribute significantly to the thriving fitness culture in the region.
