Prodigy earns invitation from M’laya Gymnastics Association

NONGSTOIN, Nov 29: Mebanrilang Lyngdoh Marshillong, a 17-year-old resident of New Nongstoin in West Khasi Hills, has garnered attention for his outstanding calisthenics abilities, leading to an invitation from the Meghalaya Gymnastics Association to join their ranks for advanced training.
The adept teenager is an integral member of the Nongstoin Youth Calisthenics (NYC) team.
Alongside six other team members, Mebanrilang is diligently preparing for an upcoming competitive event in Guwahati scheduled for December 9. The team has been honing their skills at a makeshift gym near the Nondein River, attracting local youth and providing them with a positive alternative to engage in, steering them away from anti-social activities.Mebanrilang’s remarkable calisthenics display gained widespread recognition after a video went viral on social media platforms.
This caught the keen eye of the Meghalaya Gymnastics Association, prompting them to extend an invitation to the young athlete to join their gymnastics training program based in Shillong.
Aiborlang Marshillong, President of NYC, expressed jubilation at Mebanrilang’s selection, considering it a moment of pride for the entire team.
James Bond Lyngdoh, NYC’s Manager, highlighted that the organization, established in 2020, is committed to nurturing the talent and dedication of young boys like Mebanrilang.The invitation stands as a testament to Mebanrilang’s unwavering commitment and skill, heralding a promising future for him in the realm of gymnastics.
