SHILLONG, Nov 30: The state government filed a status report on the observations made in the 18th interim report filed by Justice (retired) BP Katakey with the High Court of Meghalaya on Thursday.
In his interim report, Justice Katakey demanded an investigation into the 13 lakh MT of “missing” coal, despite the state government’s assertion that 32 lakh MT of coal had been extracted and were available.
Justice Katakey also mentioned prevalence of coal mining in East Jaintia Hills District.
The High Court will conduct the next hearing in the case on December 6.
