SHILLONG, Dec 3: The Meghalaya Adventurers Association (MAA) recently conducted the first-ever Cave Rescue Mock Drill in India on November 12 at Krem Mawmluh in the state.
This initiative followed their comprehensive training in Certified Cave Single Rope Technique (SRT), Cave Leadership, and Cave Rescue Training in the U.K. and Republic of Ireland during July-August 2023.
The association established that they are responsible to oversee and take care of any such accidents if at all they should they happen.
With that in mind, the association is gearing itself up to meet such eventualities.
The drill took place in Krem Mawmluh and involved 20 MAA members, alongside Robin Sheen from the Irish Cave Rescue Organisation, who overlooked the entire exercise.
Sponsored by the Meghalaya government, the exercise aimed to prepare the team for potential incidents in the growing realm of cave tourism and exploration.
