SHILLONG, Dec 7: An awareness programme against drugs under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan advised youths to refrain from substance abuse. It was organised by the Office of the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO), East Khasi Hills, at Raid Mukertilla Secondary School, Umsyiem under Pynursla C&RD Block.
DSWO of East Khasi Hills, E Kharchandy, in her introductory speech, spoke about the ill-effects of drugs and asked the youth to stay away from drugs and other abusive substances. She also called upon the public at large to actively and diligently participate in fighting drug menace in the district and region as a whole.
Counsellor of Kripa Foundation De-Addiction Centre for Children, Mawkasiang, Shillong, S Rymbai, also addressed the gathering which was followed by a testimony from one of the recovered addicts from the centre.
