Animal crosses Rs 500 crore mark
at global box office
Action drama film Animal has crossed Rs 500 crore mark at the worldwide gross box office, the makers said on Thursday. Fronted by Ranbir Kapoor and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film released on December 1 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. Production house T-Series shared the collection update of “Animal” on X, stating that the film has earned Rs 527.6 crore within six days of its release. “#Animal Explosion Continues, #AnimalHuntBegins,” the banner captioned the post on Instagram. While it is running successfully in theatres, a section of critics and viewers have slammed Animal, calling it misogynistic and graphically violent. (pti)
Jennifer Lopez to star in Kiss of the Spider Woman adaptation
Actor-singer Jennifer Lopez is set to star in the feature adaptation of the 1993 Broadway musical Kiss of the Spider Woman. The movie will be written and directed by Bill Condon of Dreamgirls and Beauty and the Beast fame, reported entertainment news website Deadline. The 1993 musical, led by Chita Rivera, was itself based on the 1976 novel by Manuel Puig and the 1985 movie, starring William Hurt and Raul Juila Set in an Argentinian prison in 1981, Kiss of the Spider Woman centres on Luis Molina, a gay hairdresser arrested for “corruption of a minor”. Molina imagines stories starring Aurora (Lopez) – a vampy film diva. Molina’s prison life is complicated when he is forced to share his cell with Marxist political prisoner Valentin Arregui Paz. named TIME Person of the Year
Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, who has been getting a lot of positive response to her Eras Tour, has been named ‘Time’ Person of the Year by the magazine. With this, Taylor Swift has become first solo artiste and the first woman to appear twice on its annual honourary cover since the series began in 1927, reports Los Angeles Times. She made her Person of the Year cover debut in 2017 as part of the Silence Breakers, a group of women who helped spark a cultural reckoning around sexual harassment and assault. As per Los Angeles Times, she appeared alongside California lobbyist Adama Iwu, actor Ashley Judd, a strawberry picker identified as Isabel Pascual and software engineer Susan Fowler. Her cover shoot features a cameo from her cat Benjamin Button, as credited in her acknowledgment post. She told the magazine that she is “the proudest and happiest I’ve ever felt.” (IANS)

over their divorces
Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry “bonded” with co-star Angelina Jolie over their “divorces and exes”. Berry will star alongside Jolie in her new film project Maude v Maude, and she has said that they actually spent some time together discussing their love lives. The 57-year-old actress, who was previously married to David Justice, Eric Benet and Olivier Martinez, told Variety: “We’ve been talking a lot about divorces and exes. We bonded, let’s say that.” Despite this, Berry acknowledged that their friendship actually got off to a “rocky start”. The Hollywood actress – whose co-star has also been married three times – shared: “We had a rocky start and I think that is going to serve us well in our screen time together.” Maude v Maude marks Berry’s first directorial project since ‘Bruised’, the 2020 MMA drama.(PTI)
