TMC protests against BJP
MP’s remarks
on Mamata
Kolkata, Dec 7: The TMC orchestrated protests across West Bengal on Thursday, calling for an apology and the immediate removal of Union Minister Giriraj Singh from the union cabinet, following his “misogynistic” remarks targeting party supremo and state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Chaos ensued in the West Bengal Assembly during the day as members of the ruling TMC protested Singh’s remarks concerning Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Following the Question Hour, State Women and Child Development Minister Shashi Panja demanded an apology from the BJP for Singh’s remarks, leading to chaos in the House.“We unequivocally denounce the misogynistic statement made by the Union minister,” Panja said at the assembly. The BJP must recognise their responsibility and apologise on Singh’s behalf. Failure to do so will be a clear display of their support for misogyny and a confirmation of their encouragement for such disrespectful behaviour towards women,” she added. The TMC also conducted protest rallies in various parts of the state. (PTI)

 

3 women held
for smuggling charas in Bihar
Patna, Dec 7: Railway Police have arrested three women for smuggling charas in Bettiah city of Bihar. According to a statement here, “The three accused were carrying 4.5 kg charas valued at Rs 1 crore,” Umesh Kumar, DSP Railway of Bettiah said. He identified the accused as Urmila Kumari, a resident of Jalandhar, Mintu Devi of Vaishali and Sapna Kumari of Motihari. Kumar said that the three were scheduled to board Jannayak Express and were waiting at platform number one of Bettiah railway station on Wednesday evening when railway officials arrested them. ” Kumar said. He said that the accused were booked under NDPS act. “During interrogation, it appeared that the contrabands were smuggled from Nepal via East Champaran district and reached Bettiah,” Kumar said. “ (IANS)
