Sohryngkham pip Nongkrem SC 2-1

Shillong, Dec 7: Sohryngkham SC showcased resilience and determination as they secured a 2-1 victory over Nongkrem SC in a Group A encounter of the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2023 at First Ground, Polo, on Thursday.
In the other Group B fixture, Nongrah SC emerged triumphant with a 2-1 scoreline against Laitkyrhong SC. Before these results, all teams involved were positioned in second and third places in their respective groups, each accumulating 7 points.Sohryngkham’s late-game heroics propelled them to the top of Group A, sharing 10 points with Mawtawar SC but leading on head-to-head comparison. Meanwhile, Nongrah, also with 10 points, secured second place in Group B, trailing Pohkseh SC, who currently holds 13 points.The match for Sohryngkham proved challenging as they conceded an early goal in the 10th minute to Nongkrem’s Pynshai Kharsyntiew. Iarbok Kshiar equalized in the 70th minute, and Wanbok Dkhar sealed the win with an 88th-minute goal.
In the parallel game, Nongrah’s Dawandappura Pathaw scored one of the season’s fastest goals in the 1st minute, followed by Kerionald Pyngrope adding a second in the 53rd minute. Dawandappura continued his goal-scoring spree, making it four consecutive outings with goals, and he is currently the season’s top scorer with six goals.
Although Learningstar Warlarpih reduced the margin for Laitkyrhong with a goal in the 74th minute, they couldn’t find an equalizer, and the match concluded with a 2-1 victory in favor of Nongrah.
