Shillong, Dec 8: Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU) had successfully organised on December 2, 2023 the ‘Fete & Advance Christmas Celebration 2023’. The event garnered tremendous support, resulting in a generous contribution of Rs. 1,87,530 that would be instrumental in aiding individuals affected by the crisis in Manipur.
The outpouring of support extends beyond financial contributions, with the event amassing 12 substantial boxes and 4 sacks of warm clothes, utensils for 24 families, 100 toothbrushes, 100 tubes of toothpaste, 100 pieces of bathing soap, 50 drawing books and colour pencils, 400 washing soaps, 315 sachets of juice, 282 rolls of toilet papers, 150 packets of reusable sanitary pads, 30 packets of sweets, and other essential grocery items.
In a remarkable gesture, 200 blankets, partially donated and partially procured with the raised funds, have been shipped to Manipur to provide warmth during this winter. These essential items have been shipped and are scheduled for distribution on December 8, 2023, and the distribution will be coordinated with various relief camps across Manipur.
The tangible impact of this collective effort reflects the kindness and compassion of the community. Martin Luther Christian University extends profound thanks to all contributors, whose generosity has made a significant and positive change. The university hopes that this act of kindness inspires others to contribute to similar initiatives, fostering a spirit of community and humanitarianism.
