Shillong, Dec 11: The District Election Office here initiated and flagged off an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) mobile demonstration van as a precursor to the next Lok Sabha general elections.

The ceremonial flag-off was conducted by RM Kurbah, DC of East Khasi Hills, along with election officials and representatives from various political parties. The primary objective behind this initiative is to acquaint the public with the voting process using EVMs.

The van’s itinerary includes traversing through all polling stations, serving as an educational tool to familiarize citizens with the EVM-based voting system. This step aims to enhance public awareness and understanding of the electronic voting process before the impending Lok Sabha elections.
