Tura, Dec 14: Social activist from South Garo Hills Geneth M Sangma on Thursday urged the GHADC to appoint a Nokma for Rompa A’sim A’king in the same district which is currently without a village head after the demise of incumbent Nokma, Sulonsing A Sangma.

In his appeal to GHADC Deputy CEM, Nikma Ch Marak, a copy of which has also been given to the West Garo Hills Deputy commissioner, Sangma informed that the entire community under the a’king is facing hardships with regard to obtaining EPIC, Birth Certificate, Caste Certificate, Loan Subsidies and establishment of residency in the district, due to the absence of a village head.

It may be recalled that recently, two groups of people – the wife and relatives of the deceased Nokma and a Committee under the Me’cheng mahari, had staked claim to authority in the a’king. FIRs were also filed by the two groups against each other.

Thursday’s appeal by Sangma urged the GHADC to look into the matter and appoint a leader so as to put an end to the question of authority under the a’king.
