West Jaintia Hills, Mawsynram win titles

Shillong, Dec 13: In a thrilling display of softball prowess, the women’s team from West Jaintia Hills and the men’s team from Mawsynram clinched the championship titles in the 3rd Meghalaya Softball Tournament.
The tournament, organized by the Meghalaya Softball Association, unfolded at the second ground of Polo on Wednesday.
The West Jaintia Hills women’s team secured victory in a closely contested final against the Lyntijam women’s team from Ri-Bhoi District.
Meanwhile, the Dkhiah women’s team from East Jaintia Hills claimed the third-place spot in the playoffs.On the men’s side, the Mawsynram team emerged triumphant by defeating the Dkhiah men’s team from East Jaintia Hills in a spirited final. The men’s team from West Jaintia Hills secured the third-place position in the competition.
The prestigious awards ceremony saw the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs assistant director, Khrobok Passah, Meghalaya State Olympic Association general secretary, Finely Pariat, and Meghalaya Softball Association president, Dr. Aman War, distributing prizes to the victorious teams. The event not only celebrated the remarkable softball skills on display but also highlighted the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie among the participating teams.
