BSF seize spectacles worth over Rs 50 L close to Bangladesh border in Meghalaya

Shillong, Dec 15:  The troops of 193 Battalion of the BSF based in Meghalaya in a special operation carried out in the bordering area of East Khasi Hills district and seized huge quantities of spectacles worth more than Rs 50 lakh. These spectacles were intended for smuggling into Bangladesh.

During the operation, BSF troops spotted overloaded vehicle discreetly parked in a narrow lane/track leading to the international border. Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be loaded with suspected smuggling items, specifically spectacles. The driver and co-driver of the vehicle were apprehended as they failed to provide satisfactory answers and were unable to produce any valid documents regarding the consignment of spectacles.

Both the apprehended individuals and the seized items were handed over to the Dangar police station for further legal action.
