Barbie director to preside over Cannes Film Festival 2024
Director Greta Gerwig, who set the box-office on fire with her film Barbie, will preside over the jury of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. Barbie grossed $1.4 billion at the global box office this year and just picked up nine Golden Globe nominations, Gerwig has attended Cannes alongside her partner Noah Baumbach before, notably in 2017 when his The Meyerowitz Stories premiered, but she’s never presented a film there, reports Variety. There were early talks to bring Barbie to Cannes earlier this year but the timing didn’t work. The Warner Bros. movie was released on July 19 and became an instant classic and the highest-grossing worldwide movie of the year. On top of leading the Golden Globe nominations, Barbie is also expected to land numerous Oscar nominations. (IANS)
KJo fainted on sets of K3G, reveals Kajol on film’s 22nd anniversary
Bollywood actress Kajol, who was most recently seen in the streaming series The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha, is celebrating the 22nd anniversary of her blockbuster film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. On the occasion, the actress shared that director Karan Johar got exhausted and fainted on the sets due to the heat. On Thursday, the actress took to her Instagram and shared a video of snippets from the film. She wrote in the caption: “22 years to #k3g .. Another acronym but yes another long lasting memory !!! Yash uncle actually renovated and made new makeup rooms in Filmistan studios permanently just for the shooting of this film because even with the vanity vans it was not going to be enough for this gigantic starrer! @karanjohar collapsed and fainted on set because of dehydration in the first few days.” (IANS)

DUI case following arrest
Actress-comedian Tiffany Haddish, who was arrested this Thanksgiving, reportedly has been officially charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. This arrived after Haddish was collared early on Friday morning, November 24 in Beverly Hills, California, reports aceshowbiz.com. “We responded to a call of a vehicle on the roadway at 5.45 this morning,” a watch commander for the Beverly Hills Police Department told Page Six. He also noted officers were told the driver was “asleep behind the wheel.” Sources additionally told the outlet that Tiffany’s car was “stopped in lanes of traffic” and not pulled over to the side. It means any vehicles that were driving in the area at that time would have had to go around her car. According to a video obtained by TMZ, Tiffany appeared cooperative when police put her in handcuffs and walked her to the back of their vehicle. She was seen wearing a floral red and white blouse, black leggings and black sneakers. (IANS)
‘Taylor Swift broke off relationship’
Hollywood actor Taylor Lautner, who is known for his work in Twilight, has confirmed it was Taylor Swift who called off their relationship. The actor romanced the pop megastar, 33, briefly in 2009 and provided some of the inspiration for her ‘Speak Now’ album, while he more recently starred in her music video for I Can See You, reports Female First UK. The Home Team actor says the pair lost contact and didn’t speak “for a while”, but “rekindling” his friendship with the ‘Bad Blood’ hitmaker – who is now dating 34-year-old NFL star Travis Kelce – this past year has been “one of the greatest moments” in his life. Taylor’s Speak Now song Back to December is about him and when asked what happened that month on the Call Her Daddy podcast, he quipped: “You don’t wanna know.” (IANS)
