TURA, Dec 14: The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) attacked the Conrad Sangma-led MDA Government on Friday for making hollow election promises, while also pointing out that the state was lagging behind in every aspect.
“Meghalaya is among the worst performing states, followed by Bihar and Jharkhand, according to data released by the NITI Aayog. A multidimensional poverty index, which includes poor medical performance, is shown in the report. At least six children die for every ten childbirth cases. Personnel and equipment shortages  affect all government hospitals. At least 17 out of every 100 households do not have a sanitary system at home, and open defecation is common in the Garo and Khasi Hills regions, according to MPYC president Junebirth C Marak.
Marak pointed out that the chief minister had declared during his election campaigns that education was the party’s top priority and that the state’s education system was in disarray with little being done in the way of infrastructure development, teacher hiring, etc.
