Tura, Dec 17: With residents of Garo Hills facing a bleak holiday season, Tura MDC and BJP vice president, Bernard Marak has urged leaders to use their MP, MLA schemes through various C&RD Blocks to clear pending dues to job card related beneficiaries in the wake of the financial crunch being faced by the state.
The MDC added that Blocks were under severe pressure to clear pending dues to MGNREGA, PMAY, PM – Kisan, specially-abled, widow and old age pension schemes due to the upcoming holiday season.
“This pressure comes from poor beneficiaries hoping to get their dues cleared prior to Christmas but that does not seem to be coming through. If the MP and MLAs care for their voters, their schemes could be converged in the blocks and distributed to them. This would be no less than the best Christmas gift the voters can get for voting them to power,” said Bernard.
The MDC added that the only hope for parents looking to fill their homes with happiness would be through their pending dues being cleared prior to Christmas.
“They have worked extremely hard and Christmas is just a week away. Till now they have only faced denial when seeking their dues from the various C&RD Blocks. This also extends to scholarships of students, the bills of contractors, contractual employees under different departments, teachers and medical staff. Not getting the dues in time will ruin the spirit of Christmas,” he felt.
Bernard urged leaders of the state to unite and make an effort to clear the dues before Christmas so that the deprived families find a reason to smile and celebrate.
