Biju Phukan Best NGO Award conferred on Aaranyak

Guwahati, December 20: Country’s one of the top-bracket  research-based  biodiversity conservation organisation in the non-government sector,  Aaranyak (www.aaranyak.org), has been conferred the Biju Phukan Recognition Award 2023 by Royal Affair in the category of Best NGO in recognition to organisation’s diverse initiatives for the conservation of biodiversity and facilitation of human wellbeing in the region.

The award was presented in a glittering function held at Shilpagram here on Tuesday evening in presence of an august gathering of Assamese film industry personalities  including many acclaimed filmmakers and fan of legendary film actor Late Biju Phukan.

The prestigious award which was conferred in memory of Late actor Biju Phukan had a variety of categories, including honours to individuals and organisations who had made enormous contributions to society, culture and cinema.

Dr. Alolika Sinha, Executive Member of Aaranyak and Mrs. Bobby Nath, Senior Manager – Administration received the award on behalf of  the organisation that was established in 1989 as a nature club, and now stands  out as one of the country’s leading biodiversity conservation organisations.

The star-studded event was graced by some of the well-known actors from the Assamese film industry including Pranjal Saikia, Jatin Bora, Kapil Bora and Nishita Goswami among other dignitaries from the Assamese cinema.

“I am really thankful to family members of Late Biju Phukan, who was an iconic actor, social figure of Assam. Aaranyak being conferred with Biju Phukan Award 2023 as premier Environmental NGO is indeed a privilege for all of us. Such recognition further cements our zeal to contribute towards environment and wildlife conservation in the region. I would take this opportunity to appeal to fraternities associated with film and music industry in Assam to promote environment and wildlife conservation through their domain”, said Dr Bibhab Kumar Talukdar, Secretary General and CEO of Aaranyak.

The award acknowledges and recognises individuals and organisations from a variety of sectors for the outstanding contribution they have made in their respective fields and towards society, including individuals and institutions from the entertainment industry and from non-entertainment backgrounds such as healthcare, mass media and others.
