KHADC seeks info on status

SHILLONG, Dec 23: Leader of Opposition in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Titosstarwell Chyne on Saturday asked the council’s Executive Committee (EC) to spell out the status of second phase of interstate boundary talks with Assam.
The KHADC has its representatives in one of the regional committees, constituted by the state government.
“We would like to get some details of the talks held between the two regional committees in Guwahati,” Chyne said.
Deputy Chief Executive Member PN Syiem said the border committee of the district council is actively engaged in the discussions with the regional committee to resolve the border dispute with Assam.
He said the two regional committees from the two states have not visited the disputed areas so far due to various reasons.
He said the discussion in the recent meeting between the two regional committees revolved around preparation as regards site visit.
“But the date has not been fixed for the joint inspection of the site by the two regional committees,” he added.
