SHILLONG, Dec 24: At a time when Meghalaya, the country’s second poorest state, is in dire need of austerity measures from the government, the NPP-led MDA Government is seeking to lease a helicopter for the purpose of transporting VIPs and very VIPs throughout the state and its surrounding areas.
The state government is seeking bids for the wet lease of a twin-engine helicopter with a seating capacity of five to six people, excluding the crew, and technical specifications in accordance with DGCA norms. The lease will be for a period of three months, and it can be extended on the same terms and conditions with mutual consent.
During the operational period of the agreement that will be signed between the state government and the successful bidder, the helicopter’s vintage cannot be older than ten years at any point.
The document states that the helicopter must fly flawlessly, be technically qualified for high-altitude flights, be able to land and take off in small valleys and at altitudes of up to 10,000 feet, and be outfitted to carry people and gear on cloudy weather flights.
