TB patients in EJH receive food items

KHLIEHRIAT, Dec 24: With the aim of sensitising the public on National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme and the newly launched Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (PMTBMBA), the office of the District Tuberculosis Officer, East Jaintia Hills, in collaboration with Star Cement Limited, Lumshnong under its CSR initiatives, organised a food distribution programme for TB patients at Sutnga Community Health Centre, Sutnga.
The event was attended by District Tuberculosis Officer, Dr EBV Laloo, Medical Officer in-charge Sutnga CHC, Dr R Toi, Manager-CSR, Star Cement Limited, Lumshnong, Kingshok K Borah among others.
District Tuberculosis Officer Dr Laloo, in her speech, highlighted the several ways and means which patients can practice at home to prevent the spread of tuberculosis among other family members. She urged the patients to regularly take their dosage of medicines as instructed by the concerned heath supervisors.
Further, she also dwelt at length into various schemes which provide financial assistance to TB patients during their medication period.
Additionally, she also expressed gratitude to the staff and the entire administration of Star Cement Limited for sponsoring the food items that were distributed among the patients and called upon the community members to cooperate with ASHAs and the concerned health centres to eliminate the disease from the community.
Meanwhile, Manager CSR, Star Cement Limited, Lumshnong, Kingshok K Borah, emphasized that the company committed to providing all possible assistance to TB patients in East Jaintia Hills.
After the programme, the package of food items including rice, mustard oil, eggs etc., were distributed among over 30 patients present on the occasion.
