Woman killed, biker injured in accident

Nongpoh, Dec 30: A woman lost her life, and a motorcyclist sustained severe injuries after their Pulsar bike, bearing registration number ML 05J 8849, collided with a truck bearing registration number AS 01DD 9728 on National Highway 6 on Saturday evening.

According to reliable sources, the unfortunate incident unfolded at around 4:30 pm when the motorcycle, en route from Guwahati to Shillong, met with a fatal collision upon reaching Umling. The heavy-laden truck, traveling in the opposite direction from Shillong towards Guwahati became involved in the accident.

The impact of the collision resulted in the immediate demise of a yet-to-be-identified woman, who was riding pillion on the motorcycle. The biker, whose identity remains undisclosed at this time, suffered major injuries in the accident.

Swift response teams promptly rushed the injured biker to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for urgent medical attention. Meanwhile, the Ri Bhoi Police have initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
