SHILLONG, Dec 30: MPCC Chief and Shillong MP, Vincent H Pala on Saturday said the Congress will approach TMC leaders Mukul Sangma and Charles Pyngrope at an “appropriate time” and ask them to return to their former party.
Pala recalled how Charles was his senior and how he had helped the former became an MP. He also fondly recalled his association with Mukul.
“They are still in my heart and mind. I have respect for both of them; the party did not expel them, they left on their own,” Pala added.
He also explained that if the former leaders refuse to return, the Congress has alternatives in the form of educated and reliable young leaders.
Asked if any communication has been made from the former leaders, Pala said he had spoken to them at a personal level.
“Until and unless there is a change they may not like to come as their interest is to go to other parties (BJP) for power and I don’t think they would like to come to a poor and powerless party like us,” he sarcastically remarked.
