Nongpoh, Dec 30: The village dorbar of Saiden, in Ri-Bhoi has issued a stern warning to picnic goers visiting the picturesque Iewsier area, urging them to adhere to a set of guidelines to ensure responsible and respectful behavior.
The directive comes in response to previous instances of illegal activities, littering, and nuisance caused by some visitors.
During this time of the year, the Iewsier area attracts a significant number of people seeking to spend quality time with their families and loved ones.
Regrettably, a section of the picnic goers has been reported for leaving behind waste, causing distress to the residents.
While the village dorbar has not imposed a ban on picnics in Iewsier, it has explicitly outlined a set of guidelines for visitors to follow. The directive includes a prohibition on engaging in any illegal activities, reckless or drunken driving, irresponsible behavior, and indiscriminate littering.
Notably, the village dorbar emphasizes that picnickers should confine their visits to the Iewsier area to daytime hours, concluding by 8 pm. This time restriction has been imposed to mitigate potential disturbances during nighttime hours.
The village has made it clear that individuals found violating these guidelines will face appropriate actions as determined by the village authority. The measure is aimed at preserving the pristine beauty of the Iewsier area and fostering a harmonious coexistence between visitors and residents. The village dorbar encourages responsible tourism and calls on all picnickers to respect the natural environment and the sentiments of the local community.
