SHILLONG, Jan 3: Amid the ongoing controversy that erupted after the HNLC issued a death threat to Sohra MLA Gavin Miguel Mylliem blaming the legislator for the doldrums that the Mawmluh Cherra Cements Limited (MCCL) was in, Cabinet Minister Paul Lyngdoh on Wednesday urged the banned outfit to refrain from issuing threats since people are intelligent enough to understand the ails that plague the MCCL.
Speaking to a section of reporters, Lyngdoh said that it is a set of events and not because of a single individual, as cited by the Sohra MLA, which led to the present unfortunate situation of the MCCL.
It may be mentioned that the HNLC recently had issued a death threat to NPP MLA from Sohra holding him accountable for the downfall of the MCCL.
Lyngdoh, who is also the MDA spokesperson, however refused to comment on the radical stand since the peace talks are on.
“The HNLC has not declared that it is putting a stop or closing its doors to the peace talks so those talks are still very much on the right course,” the minister said.
It may be mentioned that the HNLC, however, later in the evening announced its decision to withdraw from the ongoing tripartite peace talks accusing the government of failing to address their five core demands.
