USTM hosts East Zone Inter University Chess Tournament (Women) 2023-24

Meghalaya, Jan 6: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM)  hosted the East Zone Inter University Chess Tournament successfully from January 3rd to January 6th, under the esteemed aegis of the Association of Indian Universities. The velidactory ceremony, held this afternoon marked the culmination of this prestigious event.

The dignified occasion was graced by the presence of Prof. GD Sharma, Vice Chancellor of USTM, who delivered an inspiring speech. Chief Arbiter Mr. I.A Biswajit Bhardwaj, the Advisor of the University, Dr. R.K Sharma and other dignitaries were also present, adding to the significance of the ceremony, according to a Press communique.

In a thrilling competition, Adamas University emerged victorious, securing the first prize, followed by Jadavpur University in 2nd place, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University in 3rd place, and Banaras Hindu University claiming the 4th prize.

Organising Secretary Mr. Saikat Majumdar of USTM presented a comprehensive report on the successful execution of the tournament.

Individual excellence was recognized with separate prizes for each board. Ghosh Samriddhaa of Adamas University claimed the first board prize, followed by Chitlange Sakshi, Chandrayee Hajra, and Angira Choudhuri securing the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th board prizes, respectively.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by USTM’s Dean of Student Welfare, Ms. Rishiparna Choudhury, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and contributors who made this tournament a memorable success.
