Shillong, Jan 6: The cricket enthusiasts in Shillong witnessed intense battles in the 3rd Division of the Shillong Cricket League 2024, as the clash between Shillong Sixers and United Brothers took center stage. In a gripping encounter, Shillong Sixers emerged victorious, while in another match, Sanmer CC secured a win against Mawjam CC.
In the Shillong Sixers vs. United Brothers match, United Brothers won the toss and elected to bowl first. Shillong Sixers set a challenging target of 194 runs, scoring 193/10 in 18.1 overs.
Meinam Amit Singh showcased a stellar performance, contributing 57 runs in just 24 balls, and Azeem Nongkynrih added 34 runs in 23 balls.
The bowlers from United Brothers, Bishal Mahato (4/22) and Akash Chettri (3/30), impressed with their notable performances.
In response, United Brothers struggled to chase down the target, finishing at 134/10 in 18.4 overs.
Monjidul Khan top-scored with 50 runs in 31 balls, while Bishal Mahato added 20 runs in 22 balls. Sumeet Gurung from Shillong Sixers showcased his bowling prowess, claiming 3 wickets for 12 runs in 4 overs, and Evert Mawlong took 3 wickets for 23 runs in 3.4 overs. Shillong Sixers clinched the victory by 59 runs, and Sumeet Gurung was named the Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
In the Mawjam CC vs. Sanmer CC clash, Mawjam CC won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Sanmer CC posted a competitive total of 170/6 in 20 overs, with Elton Kahrmuti leading the way with 56 runs in 48 balls, and Pynshngain Dkhar contributing 37 runs in 34 balls.
The bowlers from Mawjam CC, Md. Mustafa (3/31) and Shan Kharmawphlang (1/15), made notable contributions.Chasing the target, Mawjam CC fell short, managing to score 121/10 wickets in 16.5 overs.
Shanborlang Kharwanphlang top-scored with 39 runs in 35 balls, and Hamid Sohtun added 19 runs in 12 balls.
John Dkhar (3/14) and Donborlang Marbaniang (3/18) were the standout bowlers for Sanmer CC.
Sanmer CC secured the victory by 49 runs, and Elton Kahrmuti, who scored 56 runs and took 2 wickets, was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding all-round performance.
