M’laya golfer Johnwell secures 2nd place in Borbhag Cup

Shillong, Jan 10: Meghalaya’s golfing sensation, Johnwell G Momin, showcased his skill and finesse by securing the second position in the professional category during the Third Edition of The BORBHAG Cup (Inter Club Tournament). The prestigious event took place on January 7, 2024, at Misa Polo Club, Kellyden, Assam, as part of the Misa Open 2024.
Drawing the participation of 120 golfers representing 17 clubs across 5 states, the Misa Open 2024 featured a competitive field with a total of 18 professional players taking part in the tournament.
The golfing community witnessed a remarkable display of talent and sportsmanship on the verdant grounds of the Misa Polo Club.
The coveted BORBHAG Cup (Inter Club) for 2024 was claimed by Guwahati Railway, with their stellar team comprising Kalyan Sahu, Nikhil Choudhary, Sanjiv Jaiswal, S N Choudhary, and Aparup Saikia. The winning team showcased exceptional teamwork and skill, securing the top honor in the tournament.
Jorhat Gymkhana Club earned the runner-up position for 2024, with their team members Wajid Hussain, Col J V Singh, HK Das, Air Commd. Samir Pradhan, and Nagesh Singh displaying commendable prowess on the golf course.
Initiated by The BORBHAG Group in 2021, The BORBHAG Cup aims to provide a platform for youth to embrace golf and enhance the visibility of golf courses in North East India.
Now in its third year, the tournament has grown significantly, attracting clubs from across the country and being hosted annually at some of the premier courses in the North East region.
The event continues to contribute to the development and promotion of golf in the region, fostering a vibrant golfing community.
