SHILLONG, Jan 12: The state government is hopeful about the speedy tendering process of 108 ambulance services in the state, which had faced a hiccup recently
Speaking to reporters, Lyngdoh on Friday empathized with the workers o the 108 services, acknowledging that they are a little restless over concerns about their fate.
“I assure you that we are on the job. We should not be pressurized to finalise a tender when we are not comfortable. Right now, the department of Health is not comfortable,” she said.
Informing that they had sent the documents of the tender to the Law department for advice, she said certain anomalies had been noticed and there were claims and counter claims among the competing bidders.
She said that the advisory by the Law department was to go for a re-tendering even prior to opening of the financial bid as they only open the technical bids.
“We have seen that we are likely to face a few legal challenges if we go ahead with this,” Lyngdoh said.
Asserting that the government is committed to provide the best facilities to the people of the state of Meghalaya, she said that she looks forward to this happening very quickly.
She pointed out that if the model code of conduct is announced in view of the upcoming polls, and the government is unable to present or start the calling of bids, the current situation will continue wherein the National Health Mission will run the 108 ambulance services.
