Shillong, Jan 13: Exciting cricket action unfolded in the Shillong Cricket Association 3rd Division matches held on Saturday, featuring two gripping clashes that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.
In the first match, Youngstar CC faced off against Matador CC after winning the toss and opting to field. Matador CC, batting first, set a target of 92 runs for Youngstar CC, scoring 91/10 in 18 overs. Om Chettri shone as the leading batsman, contributing 42 runs off 43 balls. Youngstar CC’s bowlers exhibited commendable performances, with Adit Pradhan bowling 4 overs, conceding 21 runs, and taking 2 wickets, while Nehal Sharma bowled 3 overs, gave away 12 runs, and took 2 wickets.
In response, Youngstar CC successfully chased down the target, scoring 94/7 in 19.1 overs. Krishiv Choudhary played a pivotal role, scoring 24 runs off 31 balls, and Adit Pradhan contributed 15 runs off 13 balls. Jerry proved to be a standout bowler for Matador CC, bowling 4 overs, giving 8 runs, and taking 3 wickets, while Taikupar Nongkynrih bowled 2.1 overs, gave 10 runs, and took 1 wicket. Ultimately, Youngstar CC secured victory by 3 wickets, with Adit Pradhan being named the Player-of-the-Match for his all-round performance.
In the second match between YALM and SMCA, YALM won the toss and elected to field first. SMCA posted a formidable total of 186/5 in 20 overs, with notable performances from Manirul Islam (36 runs off 20 balls) and Rehan Kharbuli (35 runs off 32 balls). YALM’s bowlers, Tomu and Arun Tamang, impressed by taking 2 wickets each.
In response, YALM gave a valiant effort but fell short, scoring 172/10 in 19.2 overs. Arun Tamang top-scored with 55 runs off 36 balls, and Tanveer Sharma contributed 36 runs off 35 balls.
Rehan Kharbuli showcased his all-around prowess, bowling 3.2 overs, giving 27 runs, and taking an impressive 5 wickets, while Rupin Das bowled 4 overs, gave 25 runs, and took 3 wickets. SMCA emerged victorious by 14 runs, with Rehan Kharbuli rightfully earning the Player of the Match title for his outstanding contribution of 35 runs and 5 wickets.
These thrilling encounters in the Shillong Cricket Association 3rd Division matches showcased the competitive spirit and skill of the participating teams. From nail-biting chases to impressive bowling performances, the players demonstrated their dedication to the sport. Adit Pradhan’s all-round brilliance for Youngstar CC and Rehan Kharbuli’s impactful contribution for SMCA earned them well-deserved Player-of-the-Match.
