TURA, Jan 17: In one of the most horrific crimes to come out of the West Garo Hills district, a man allegedly beheaded his mother and fled the village of Babadam, which is located roughly 20 km from Tura.
Police sources said the murder occurred early Wednesday morning, and shortly after, videos of the crime went viral. The victim’s neck was totally severed, and blood covered the entire crime scene after the incident.
A police team arrived at the location after neighbours reported the crime.
“The accused is currently evading capture while we search for him. Locals in the area speculate that the son’s potential mental illness may have been the reason behind the murder. The matter is presently being investigated,” West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Abraham T Sangma said.
