One killed in accident in Ri-Bhoi

Nongpoh, Jan 27: In a tragic incident, one person lost his life while another sustained severe injuries after an over-speeding truck rammed into two parked vehicles at a car-wash centre in Ri-Bhoi on Friday.
It was reported that the truck driver fled the scene following the accident.
The police are actively investigating the incident to apprehend the absconding driver.
According to sources, the incident unfolded around 1 pm at Umryngkai when the over-speeding vehicle with registration number AS01 MC8136, en route from Shillong to Guwahati, collided with two parked vehicles in a car wash area along the national highway.
The victims were cleaning their vehicles when the accident occurred.
The impact of the collision extended to their vehicles and a small retail shop in the vicinity.
Tragically, Anshu Kumar (20) lost his life at the scene while the other person sustained severe injuries and was transported to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for treatment.
Due to the gravity of the injuries, the injured individual was later transferred to a hospital in Shillong.
