Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Kailash Choudhary during his visit to the sanctum sanctorum of U Lum Sohpetbneng (Navel of the Heaven) in Ri-Bhoi on Tuesday. During his visit, the Union minister was briefed about the hill’s significance, particularly concerning the origin and belief system of the Khasis who adhere to Niam Khasi, the indigenous faith. The briefing was provided by vice chairman Paia Synrem and secretary Sanjo Bareh of Lum Sohpetbneng Committee, Seng Khasi Kmie. Impressed by the sanctity and importance of the place, Choudhary urged people from across the nation and the world to visit Lum Sohpetbneng to experience its solemnity, which serves as a testament to its existence.
