66th Grammy Awards: Swift’s Midnights bags Album of the Year

Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, who earlier won Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights registered her second win at the 66th edition of the Grammy awards as she won the coveted Album of the Year award for Midnights. Midnights’ is the tenth studio album by Swift. The singer conceived it as a concept album about nocturnal ruminations inspired by her sleepless nights.
The autobiographical songwriting explores broad emotions such as regrets, self-critique, fantasies, heartbreak, and infatuation, using confessional yet cryptic lyrics that allude to her personal life and public image.
Taylor Swift, also announced her next studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, during her acceptance speech. She also revealed it will be out on April 19.

Record of the Year
Singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus marked her second win at the 66th edition of the Grammy Awards as she clinched the honour for Record of the Year for her song Flowers. The singer beat fellow nominees Olivia Rodrigo, Jon Batiste, Taylor Swift, Boygenius, Billie Eilish, Victoria Monet and SZA in the Record of the Year category. The Recording Academy took to its official handle on micro-blogging site X and congratulated the winner. They wrote: “Congrats Record Of The Year winner – Flowers @MileyCyrus #GRAMMYs.”

Global Impact Award
Rapper Jay-Z was honoured with the 2nd Dr Dre Global Impact Award for his multitude of achievements through his innovative career at the 66th edition of the Grammy Awards.
The Recording Academy took to its official handle on micro-blogging site X and congratulated the winner.

Best Global Music Album
India took centre stage at the 66th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, after Zakir Hussain was named the Best Global Music Performance for his work in Pashto alongside Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer, featuring Rakesh Chaurasia.
Shankar Mahadevan took home the award for Best Global Music Album at the Grammys for This Moment. In a post on X, Indian music composer Ricky Kej, said that this is a great year for India at the Grammys.
He wrote: “Ustad Zakhir Hussain, the living legend creates history by winning 3 Grammys in one night!!! Rakesh Chaurasia wins 2!! .. and I am blessed to witness it,” he wrote. Kej added: “SHAKTI wins a GRAMMY! Through this album 4 brilliant Indian musicians win Grammys!!

Best Musica Urbana Album
Colombian singer-songwriter Carolina Giraldo Navarro, professionally known by her stage name Karol G, clinched the trophy for Best Musica Urbana Album for Manana Sere Bonito at the currently ongoing 66th edition of the Grammy Awards.
The Grammy Award for Best Musica Urbana Album is an honour presented to recording artists for quality vocal or instrumental Latin urban albums.

Best Jazz Vocal Album
Jazz singer-songwriter Nicole Zuraitis lifted the trophy for Best Jazz Vocal Album at the currently ongoing 66th edition Grammy Awards. She won the honour for her album How Love Begins. Nicole’s album is a collection of original songs.

Best Pop Dance
Recording
Singer Kylie Minogue has taken home the golden gramophone in an all-new category – Best Pop Dance Recording at the 2024 Grammys, for Padam Padam. Minogue came ahead of of David Guetta, Anne-Marie and Coi Leray Baby Don’t Hurt Me); Calvin Harris featuring Ellie Goulding (Miracle); and David Guetta (One in a Million); according to grammy.com.
