SHILLONG, Feb 5: After reviewing the progress of Phase-I of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) scheme on Monday, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma revealed plans to implement Phase-II of the central scheme in Meghalaya.
Congratulating the team behind the implementation of the scheme for their efforts, the CM directed them to work in collaboration with agencies and community heads to reach the targets of Phase-II of the PMUY scheme on time.
The PMUY is a flagship scheme of the Government of India which aims to make clean cooking fuel such as LPG available to the rural and deprived households which were otherwise using traditional cooking fuels such as firewood, coal, cow-dung cakes etc.
The scheme was launched in May of 2016 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
