SHILLONG, Feb 5: The National e-Vidhaan Application (NeVA) has been embraced by the Leader of Opposition, Ronnie V Lyngdoh, which is a step towards streamlining and digitising the proceedings of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
The application hosts secure platform for each Member of the House to submit questions and other notices, facilitating a seamless transition towards paperless operations.
Lyngdoh, on Monday, received training on the application’s usage from officials of the IT Cell at the Conference Hall of the Administrative Block of the Meghalaya Assembly, Khyndai Lad.
Deployed on the NIC Cloud MeghRaj, NeVA functions as a workflow system designed to enhance the efficiency of House proceedings and assist legislators in executing their duties within the Assembly.
The device-neutral and member-centric application equips legislators with comprehensive information, including contact details, rules of procedure, list of business, notices,  bulletins, bills, questions and answers, papers laid, committee reports, all accessible on handheld devices or tablets.
Expressing his appreciation, the Leader of Opposition thanked Speaker Thomas A Sangma and officials of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretariat for spearheading the implementation of the NeVA application.
Highlighting the application’s efficiency, Lyngdoh emphasised its utility in submitting questions and notices while on the move.
NeVA’s implementation aims to eliminate the cumbersome process of sending out notices or requests for data collection, paving the way for smoother and faster legislative operations in Meghalaya.
