NEC to fund Rs 10 cr project to give facelift to Iewduh market

Shillong, Feb 8: The North Eastern Council (NEC) has proposed to fund a project worth over Rs 10 crore to give a facelift to Iewduh, one of the oldest traditional market in the Northeast.

The outgoing NEC secretary, Moses Chalai told reporters here  that there was a need to improve and beautify the Iewduh market.

He said that the water supply system was in old shape and they were going to revamp the whole thing.

According to the NEC, the government has been asked to rework the detailed project report (DPR) before starting the project.

The NEC is yet to release funds pending finalization of the Detailed Project Report.
The work for the uplift of the Iewduh market is likely to start in the next two to three months.
