Shillong, Feb 8: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Hima Sohiong on Thursday threatened that they will again storm the premises of the KHADC if it allows Bashemlang Thabah who had been suspended to remain in the position of the Lyngdoh of Hima Sohiong.
It may be recalled that in March 2022, members of the JADC, numbering around 50, stormed into the KHADC and damaged the entrance gate.
The JAC members were protesting against former KHADC CEM, Titosstarwell Chyne, and former EM in charge of Elaka, Jambor War for not complying with their demand to remove Thabah.
While speaking to reporters after meeting KHADC Deputy CEM, Pynshngain N Syiem, JAC chairman, Purningstar Shabong said that the council had suspended the former Lyngdoh for alleged misutilisation of funds of the Hima.
“We will not hesitate to again barge into the council premises if there are people who are trying to ensure that the former Lyngdoh who has been suspended remain in office,” Shabong said.
He also demanded that the council should provide them with a copy of the inquiry report which was constituted against Thabah following the demand of the JAC.
“We are demanding for holding of an election to elect the new Lyngdoh of Hima Sohiong,” the JAC chairman said.
It may be recalled that the council had appointed senior officer, AE Gatphoh to inquiry into the allegations against the suspended Lyngdoh of the Hima.
According to Shabong, they have been informed that he (Gatphoh) has already submitted his report to the executive committee, therefore he urged the deputy CEM to provide them with a copy of the inquiry report.
It may be mentioned that the JAC had demanded the removal of the suspended Lyngdoh since 2019 since he had illegally sold Hima land and was involved in several irregularities.
