SHILLONG, Feb 11: A veterinary doctor in charge of Veterinary Dispensary in Muktapur, a village along Indo-Bangla border in West Jaintia Hills, Dr Seiboklang Buam, has accused BSF personnel of threatening to shoot him, on Sunday.
Buam, who hails from Muktapur, alleged that the BSF personnel stationed at Lakroh manhandled him.
The incident took place along the Muktapur-Jaliakhola road, which falls under the Border Outpost at Hawai Tilla, West Jaintia Hills.
The BSF jawans allegedly accused the veterinary doctor of being a Bangladesh national after intercepting him while he was returning after a fishing trip to Lakroh river.
According to the doctor, he has worked with the BSF whenever they have needed him. “But today, I was surprised since the BSF accused that I am a Bangladeshi,” he said.
The veterinary doctor had an argument with the force’s personnel and asked them to first stop the illegal smuggling of cattle to Bangladesh.
During the argument, the doctor also shot a video of the incident using his mobile. But the BSF personnel allegedly snatched it from him and threatened to drag him to the zero point and shoot him.
Buam also claimed that the BSF personnel wanted to strip him and even asked him to touch their feet for forgiveness.
